Facility-Wide Events
The High Prairie anchor organizations collaborate several times a year to promote arts and science engagement throughout the community. Whether adults perform to highlight and benefit the children's programming, or kids come to play and learn, the building is buzzing with activity and fun.

The Professionals Amateur Series debut event on the menu to the right, marks the beginning of artistic, community-minded professionals putting on an evening's entertainment to heighten awareness, invite new friends and benefit year round kids' programming in the arts and sciences at High Prairie.
Glimpses of our recent Haunting Arts and Spooktacular Science provide a window into the affordable, collaborative events High Prairie is able to offer through continued community support. The event uses a Halloween theme to introduce costumed young learners to the idea that the arts and science is everywhere, even embedded in our favorite holidays and traditions.

In response to families requesting a full day of activities, especially during summer and on no-school days when many parents need to work, High Prairie is happily developing a SUPER Series designed to offer a full day of arts and science programming that allows children to experience and become acquainted with fun and learning across several disciplines. Following a pilot Super Saturday in January 2009, the anchors will continue to hone classes in art, theatre, science, music, and even explore options with guest partners, to offer a wide range of engaging activities for youth in the region in a day long format.

In their collaborative efforts, all High Prairie anchors united to provide an especially far-reaching and remarkable event to commemorate the Abraham Lincoln Bicentennial, February 2009. From a statewide arts contest to elementary field trips and public events, over 1,000 patrons and participants are experiencing Lincoln Life Lessons.
In June 2009, the program received national recognition, winning second place in an educational enrichment contest sponsored by the national HISTORY channel.
